Why Variable Incline capability?
Many shipyards that can accommodate large scale construction of sea-bound wind turbines are located at inlets and river-banks miles from the open ocean. Facilities such as the Philadelphia Shipyard, Brooklyn NY old Navy Yard, and San Francisco Pier 70 Yard, are obstructed from the open waters by bridges: Delaware Memorial Bridge (53 meters clearance), Verrazano Narrows Bridge (69 meters clearance), and the Oakland Bay and Golden Gate Bridges (67 meters clearance). Fully assembled wind turbine energy systems can only pass through these waterways in a horizontal reclined orientation.
The inclusion of these facilities in fabrication of wind energy systems will promote local economic development, encourage competition, and facilitate cost reduction.
Also, a system capable of horizontal orientation
can be commanded to submerge under the water surface to safely withstand an
incoming hurricane.
